First UK-Vietnam Meeting on Mathematics for the Environment

1. Objectives

The objective of the Meeting is to strengthen UK–Vietnam cooperation in mathematics, computational science, climate, environment and sustainability by bringing together researchers, early-career scientists and students from both countries. The programme will build capacity through introductory training in mathematical and computational modelling for climate and deep learning, while creating opportunities for interdisciplinary research exchange and collaboration.

This meeting programme consists of two events:

  • 28th-30th September 2026: A three-day School featuring two introductory courses in: Mathematical and Computational modelling for Climate; Deep learning.
  • 1st October 2026: A day research and knowledge exchange workshop at the interface of CES and mathematics, bringing colleagues from different disciplines.

2. Participants:

Advanced undergraduate students, Graduate students, and early-career Researchers in mathematics, data science, computer science, physics, or related quantitative fields who are interested in applying mathematical and computational tools to sustainability challenges.
